(1) Q: What is a screen?

A: A screen is an offensive tactic where an offensive player without the ball obstructs the path of a defensive player, so that another offensive player - with or without the ball - can move freely. The offensive player setting the screen, the screener, has some restrictions on how the screen can be set (which we will talk more about in the Offense section).

(2) Q: How do we defend screens?

A: In basic terms, there are two types of screens:  on-ball screens and off-ball screens. Each will have their own strategies for defending them. We will talk more about each of them in the next sections.
